I woke up at 5am and managed to catch sunrise from my hotel.
We had woken to catch the Odakyu rail to Hakone, Yumoto Station.
We crossed to platform and took the Hakone Tozan Train line to Gora Station. The train is the oldest mountain railway in Japan with a track that includes three switchbacks that enable it to negotiate the steepness of the climb.
At Gora Station we took the cable car up to 214m to Sounzan Station.
We took the Hakone ropeway, a gondola car from Souzan to Owakundani. We and saw the sulphuric gases emerging from Owakudani - Great Boiling Valley. sulfur fumes fill the air as it is a volcanic area beneath the ropeway. It is inside the crater of the volcano Mount Kamiyama.
Once we alighted, we could see Mount Fuji from a distance. What a sight to behold!
There was a cute hello kitty and black eggs seats for tourists to take photos with.
We bought the kuro-tamago chicken eggs that have been boiled in the bubbling pools inside the crater if Owakudani. The presence of sulfur and iron in the volcanic water turns the eggshells black as they cook.
Legend has it that eating one of these eggs will prolong your life by seven years.

Next, we headed to Togendai where we boarded the pirate ship to cruise Lake Ashi towards Motohakone-machi Port.
A view of the Hakone jinja shrine torii gate.
Lovely Sakura
Spotted Pikachu in a Yokohama T-shirt
We visited the Gora Park, an uphill walk from the station. It has a teahouse, ice-cream kiosk and tropical green house.

Food court selling Singapore Chicken Rice
As they were no more buses to Hakone Yumoto Station, we had to take bus train to Gotemba followed by a change at Matsuda Station and to Shinjuku, Tokyo.
It was pretty chilly
As we arrived back at Shinjuku station, we saw many elderly unfolding cardboxes with makeshift beds. There were at lease 10 of them. Didnt quite expect that in Japan!
Bought our breakfast for the next day at 7-eleven.
