Mystery shopper 28 Sep (3pm to 5pm)

Had to interview 3 staff in ticketing (flower done, floral fantasy and supertree observatory) admission operations (flower dome/cloud forest, supertree observatory/ocbc skyway) and gardens cruises (shuttle/audio tour)

Based on four areas of competency : professionalism, service, product knowledge competency, service quality skills and communication and listening skills
Asked them about attractions, ticket price, floral display and events, directions/amenities/services, recommended itinerary

MRT Disruptions on 25 Sep

Was greeted by this in the morning at Pasir Ris Stn

New gantries installed

To my dismay when I reached the station at 6.10am I saw that the next train would only arrive 12 mins later

Due to stretch of damaged rails caused by the 35yo Kawasaki Heavy Industries Train 

Usually the interval is only 2-3mins

Had Le Shrimp ramen at Pasir Ris Mall. Ordered the trio shrimp 🦐 ramen and Ebiko prawn paste shrimp ramen along with fried spring rolls for$ 48.00 to share with D&M and myself

Hokkaido Day 5 (11 Sep - 18 Sep)

The outdoor museum where 25 historical buildings of the original Abashiri Prison are conserved and exhibited was opened in 1983

To guard against Russian invasion, the inmates were also forced to construct the first road to Sapporo.


Most of the prison was burned down in a 1909 fire, but it was reconstructed in 1912





Known as a self sufficient farming prison


Offers a glimpse of life in a Japanese Jail














1200 prison inmates were mobilise to build the central road between Abashiri and Asahikawa. They built 163km of road in just 8 mths. They were responsible for reclaiming farmland and building road and railroads through Hokkaido.

The Brick Punishment Chamber - a pitch black chamber with reduced rations

Built in 1910 and moved to current location in 1991

Solitary Punishment Chamber - an unruly prisoner would be confined here for seven days with only rice water and punishment could be increased to include reduced light deprivation
