Cotton is a major player in Australia’s economy. Most farms, 90% are family owned thanks to innovation irrigation techniques. The journey from seed to shirt, spans three seasons. Seeds go in the ground during spring, and four months later cotton balls the plant’s fruit-burst forth. The balls are then harvested by machines and whisked off to cotton gins, where the lint is separated from the seeds. Each bale weights 227kg is sold and transformed into the clothes we wear
Home to 2,000 species of native bees from the chunky black and yellow carpenter bees to the dapper blue-banded bees and the tiny 2mm Quasihesma bees. These bees have been perfecting their pollination skills alongside Australia’s unique flora over thousands of years.
